  • One delivery driver in Summerside - part time

Full Time Farm Employee Position

  • General Information
    • One position open
    • Full season availability required; position is not open to students (students: see part time positions below)
    • Farming is rewarding but demanding work
    • Independent work ethic, personal organization, and attention to detail are all essential
  • Timeline
    • Some work beginning in April 2019 (exact start date and hours are weather-dependent)
    • Full-time work beginning in May 2019
    • Position will end in November 2019 (exact end date is weather-dependent)
    • Hours
      • 8:00am - 5:00pm
      • 5 days per week - Monday to Saturday
        • Precise days of the week will depend on weather, harvest needs, market days, and other factors
    • Responsibilities
      • We will train you.
      • Seeding: starting seeds
      • Planting: transplanting
      • Weeding: hoeing, hand-weeding
      • General crop maintenance: irrigation, bed turnover, soil amendments, etc.
      • Harvest and post-harvest: quality control, washing, bagging, processing, 
      • Customer service: farmers' markets, roadside farm stand, veggie box CSA pickups, possibly deliveries
      • Qualifications and Characteristics
        • Required:
          • Good working attitude and polite demeanor — we aim to foster a friendly and professional work environment and presence with our customers

          • Able to see subtle differences in colour (for harvesting crops at the appropriate time)

          • Own transportation - may be possible for carpooling to be arranged with payment for fuel
          • Prior customer service experience

        • $12.50 to $14.00 per hour, depending on prior experience, learning speed, and work efficiency

          • We will train you.

            Delivery Driver in Summerside - Part Time

            • General Information
              • One position open
              • Open to students and all ages 16 and above
              • Orders will be picked up at Farmed Market, 591 Read Drive, Summerside and distributed throughout Summerside within a 3 hour period
              • Hours are short and variable; independent work ethic, personal organization, and attention to detail are all absolutely essential; the position also requires the employee's own transportation; therefore, hourly compensation is generous
            • Timeline
              • Some work may begin as early as December 2018 or January 2019 and continue throughout 2019, depending on customer demand for our indoor crops
              • Main growing season work will begin in June 2019 (exact start date and hours are dependent on customer demand and growing conditions/harvest availability)
              • Position is intended to be year-round part-time (exact end date is weather-dependent)
              • Hours
                • Presently planned hours: 2:00-6:00pm
                • 1-2 days per week - likely Wednesday and Friday/Saturday
                  • Precise days of the week will depend on weather, harvest needs, market days, and other factors.
                • These hours and work days are subject to change at the request of customers and/or Farmed Market management. We will provide as much notice as possible if/when any changes to this schedule are going to take place.
                  • Responsibilities
                    • Driving
                    • Handling customers' vegetable orders
                    • Sorting deliveries by destination and customer name
                    • Customer service at customers' homes and/or places of business
                    • Texting customers prior to attempting delivery
                    • Calling customers when they do not answer the door
                    • Meticulous record-keeping
                      • track the time of day when deliveries are attempted/completed
                      • which customers receive vegetables
                      • which customers are not home
                      • take note of products missing from orders
                      • take note of customer feedback, etc.
                  • Qualifications and Characteristics
                    • Required:
                    • Own transportation
                    • Own iOS or Andriod device, as required by the GPS software we use for deliveries. You can purchase this after being interviewed and hired. We are happy to set up financing for you if that purchase is not within your financial means.
                    • Reliability: if you apply for this job, that means you will complete the deliveries every week, and provide one month's notice before requiring planned time off (one week's vacation over the summer), so we have time to make alternative arrangements
                    • Independent and efficient work ethic
                    • Personal organization
                    • Cleanliness: employee must be presentable and well-mannered when dealing with customers
                    • Sanitation and food safety: inside of vehicle must be clean and safe when food is being transported

                    • As stated above, hours are short and variable; independent work ethic, personal organization, and attention to detail are all absolutely essential; the position also requires the employee's own transportation; therefore, hourly compensation is generous
                    • $25 per hour, or $30 per delivery — whichever is greater
                    • Paid every two weeks
                    • Free organic vegetables for you and your family when supply allows (which should be most of the time)
                    • Tips should not be expected, never requested, but can be accepted if offered by customers
